Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to London Churchill College, one of the fastest growing Colleges in the East London area. All London Churchill we greatly value our mission statement which states:

‘We provide the highest quality learning opportunities that meet the specific needs of our students and which promote and enhance self confidence, develop personal achievement, an enterprising outlook, to maximise employability’

As a College we are busy establishing our reputation, both in the academic world and with employers. I am delighted that in 2015/2016 LCC achieved university accreditation to offer an FdA programme of study in Business Management & Events and Hospitality Management, to be awarded by the University of Bedfordshire. The College is also accredited for the BA (Hons) Business Management (top-up) as a study centre. This is a major step for the College to complement our HND Programmes in Business Studies, Health Care and Hospitality. In the next few years we will be offering BA degrees and Foundation Degrees in these three specialisms and possibly new disciplines as well. Achieving a university partnership gives confidence that we provide the highest quality learning opportunities meeting the needs of local students. The achievement of a BA by the University of Bedfordshire or HND from Pearson, goes a long way to enhance student self-confidence.  Receiving the award at the LCC Graduate Ceremony engenders a feeling of personal achievement for all of our students. The skills we teach on our programmes focus on developing an enterprising outlook.

At LCC we are keen to support the achievement of graduate employment and potential career development within the local community. As a centre of that community, London Churchill College encourages the widest participation to enable students to gain entry to our programmes. We want our students to make a full contribution to their community on graduation and give back to the community the skills and knowledge they have learnt.

We believe that all our students undertake their studies with a view to advancing employment opportunities on completion. In this respect we have highly trained and academically competent staff here to help achieve that aim. To further employment opportunity we have established an Employers’ Forum. At this forum, employers, staff and student representatives, working in partnership, contribute to the development of each taught subject. The Employers’ Forum also provides us with a wide range of guest speakers to enhance the student learning experience. In this way our programmes mirror the sorts of activities in business, health care and hospitality that are undertaken in the real world of work. In this way, our students leave LCC with a competitive edge, fully prepared to enter the world of work with the skills that the workplace requires.

Our academic standards and the quality of learning opportunities offered to you are at a high standard. At the same time we offer an academic experience that is second to none provided by top quality tutors and supported by excellent administrative and support staff working together as a cohesive and supportive team.

We believe achievement is built on student commitment to his/her studies. I can state categorically that success in study begins through high attendance which we fully encourage at LCC. Our tutors provide a stimulating learning environment which works best when classes are full. We believe students owe it to their peers and to themselves to maximise contributions in a student-centred environment. We believe students not only learn from the tutors but also from fellow students. We all have a responsibility to share in the learning experience.

As Principal, my door is always open to meet with students who want to discuss any aspect of their student life at London Churchill College in an informal setting. Finally, I wish all students every success with their studies.
